Montessori Toddler Program

We are educators, not just childcare providers.
1.2 years to 3 years.
We are proud to announce the opening of our New Montessori for Toddler Environment from March 2017, giving the opportunity to children right from the age of 1.2 years to 3 years to experience authentic and premium quality Montessori Way of Learning. An extremely prevalent method of education in the western world that is now extended to our toddlers at AIS as well.
Our New Montessori for Toddlers offers more than just childcare: we provide toddlers with a specially prepared environment to make the most of their formative years to maximise their development.

Why choose our Montessori Toddler Program?

  • Quality Montessori Learning Materials.
We offer scientifically designed Montessori Material that is prepared in order to assist in the mental and physical growth of your child.
  • Beautifully and Precisely Prepared Environment
We deliver a Prepared Environment whereby every activity is purposeful and is made to engineer concentration. It comprises of Language, Sensorial, Practical life, Art, Music, Culture, Manipulative Exercises and Botany. The materials used across all these segments are reality based, they are safe and non-toxic in nature and generally made from natural ingredients.
  • Small Adult to Child Ratio
In order to provide individual attention we maintain a small adult to child ratio of around 1 adult to 6 children, whereby the child can work at its own pace and get adequate attention.
  • Fully Trained Montessori Directresses
We only hire fully trained Montessori Directresses and each environment is guided by directresses who are trained and certified by the Association of Montessori Internationale (AMI).
  • Hike in Language Capability
We focus on delivering rich vocabulary in order to hike the child’s language capability. Our children start learning big words easily and with pleasure and they become happier as they learn to express their needs, rather than needing to resort to crying and tantrums.
  • Independence focusing on Care of Self and Environment along with Grace and Courtesy
A child who learns to be happy by himself is what we aim towards. You may be surprised how your 2 year old can occupy himself happily, without your constant attention. We do this by focusing on helping your child develop independence skills, as we guide him to do things by himself, thereby developing his budding sense of self-efficacy.

Authentic Montessori Curriculum for Toddlers

A program where learning is effortless and optimal for your toddler.

Language Development

It is said that a child has the capacity and the power to learn up to seven languages during 0 to 6 years of age and all these languages acquired during this time will remain with him throughout his life time. To give a simple example, a child picks up his mother tongue without being taught and understands and speaks it fluently by the age of six. The child’s mind absorbs this language effortlessly from his environment. Our program keeps this in mind and surrounds the child with intentional language through reading to your child, offering songs, sound games for older toddlers which brings to them phonic awareness , all this so that he absorbs and develops the same fluency in written and spoken English as his mother tongue. All this is done through individual attention, conversation and activities tailored to your child’s interest.

Gross Motor Skills & Sense of Independence

Every child wants to be Independent and do things for himself. The material and activities in our Toddler Program work with your child’s capabilities and his need for independence. Activities like Pincer activity and Coin Box, develop gross motor skills and hand eye coordination. The arrangement in the toddler environment brings a sense of order to the child, encourages him to put the material back in its place. The children then don’t depend on the adults for constant help and go about with their work happily.

Building Social Skills

We gently guide your child to develop skills he needs to live together peacefully with his peers and adults. Children this age have a strong tendency to imitate what they see, our teachers constantly model appropriate social skills, good manners and consideration for others. This leads to inculcating concept of grace and courtesy within the daily routine of the child.

Refinement of Senses

Our toddler environment contains a selection of scientifically designed Sensorial activities such as simplified Knobbed Cylinders, Pink Tower and Brown stairs. All these activities help the child to develop fine motor skills, hand and eye coordination, and their abilities to observe and solve problems

Music, Art and Culture

The Cultural Subjects in our Montessori preschool environment provide our students with a first exposure to the many areas of knowledge they will encounter later on – and enable them to acquire an early interest in learning about the world, its natural wonders, its people, history and culture, its music and art. Music and Art is integrated throughout our environment: there is no clash between academics and creativity. Our students learn key art skills – such as using scissors, gluing, holding a thick crayon – all while exploring the process of creating something beautiful from beginning to end

Manipulative Exercises

Toddlers are curious about everything and need to touch and manipulate objects in order to learn. As the toddler works with manipulative activities such as knobbed puzzles, and other equipment with special grip, his or her hand will be prepared for writing, specifically the use of the thumb and index finger - the pincer grasp that are precursors for writing and other fine muscle activities in the future. The material also helps the child get an idea of the sequence and satisfies his or her need to think and solve problems.

Dedicated Play Activities

At AIS, we encourage our children to be involved in outdoor activities. We have a dedicated outdoor area with toddler size playing equipment for them to engage in physical activities. These activities help the children to gain further equilibrium and refine their movements. The children are guided and assisted by the staff during these outdoor sessions.
